Fall is finally here

This is my favorite time of year. I just love all the fall color's, too bad for thos of us here in CA, we do not get to see much of the seasons changing but I still love the color's all the same.

It has been a busy late summer/early fall for us.

My brother married the love of his life in August. Keith and I were proud to stand up for them both. Welcome to our family Vicky and little Ms. Bella, my monkey.

My nephew started middle school. It is weird to be back on the campus that I went to middle school on all those years ago. I cant believe how fast time flies by. It seems like yesterday, he was being born and now he is a big 11 year old in the 6th grade and doing all the "first" like walking home from school alone. He also is playing soccer for the first time. Honestly, I do not know a thing about soccer. American football and baseball are my favorite sports, but Keith and I will do our best to support whatever he does.

My neice is now in the 4th grade and without her big brother with her. Thankfully she has friends and other relatives going to the same school so she wont be too lonely. She is playing soccer, her 2nd season. She loves it. I have tried till I am blue in the face to have her play softball like most of her Aunts and her mom played, but she isnt having it. She loves soccer. Soon she will be off into middle school, my little Pumpkin is 9 going on 21. She is growing way to fast or am I just getting old? And just like her brother, Keith and I will support whatever she wants to do.

My mom had skin cancer removed from her ear. Thankfully the doctor's were able to get it all and it is the non-life threatening form but she does have to be vigilant in wearing sunscreen and getting checked every 6 months. Skin cancers are no fun but can be treated. So we are all now wearing sunscreens and hats when we are out in the sun. Unfortunately for me, I spent my teenage years at the beach with no sunscreen, so I am now careful to check on any funny looking spots just in case.

My dad is well my dad. He works entirely too hard. We had a chance to visit the Russell side in July to celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday. It was great to see my dad interacting with his brothers and sister. To see him with his nieces and nephews reminded me of all the fun I used to have with my Aunt and Uncles when I was younger. It was a great time, we had a blast. I think Grandma was overwelmed by it all, especially when my Uncles, cousins, hubby and I changed the lattice on her deck. She wasnt too pleased but after it was all said and done, she loved it.

Keith and I are fastly approaching our 20th wedding anniversary this Nov. We are planning a trip to New York to celebrate our anniversary and the wedding of his cousin. This will be our first trip and our first time meeting the rest of Keith's NY family. He is super excited to meet them all but most excited about going to see his favorite football team (Buffalo Bills) in their home staduim in Orchard Park, NY. He is like a kid waiting for Santa to come. It is so nice to see him so super excited. I just hope it doesnt snow but because he wants to see the game in the snow, I guess I could live with a little snow?

June Gloom

I can't wait for the summer time, bring on the sunshine. June Gloom is the worse, puts everyone in weird mood. Funny how not seeing the sun or feeling it on your skin makes you go a little nuts.

Busy Summer and Summer isnt here yet

My how time has flown by, my little nephew is graduating from elementary school and going on to the same Junior High that his dad and I went to many many many moons ago. I still cant believe it. I am so excited for him, soon he will have a whole new set of challenges and experiences. He has grown like a weed. He reminds me that he will be 11 soon and doesnt need me to "watch" out for him anymore, well I hate to tell my dear sweet nephew, he will never be "big" enough for me to let go completely.

We are all preparing for my Grandma Russell's 90th birthday celebration. We are driving up in July along with the rest of the family to have a reunion of sorts. You only turn 90 once so I hope my Grandma is ready for her entire clan to be there. My nephew is looking forward to seeing and meeting new cousins, it is too bad my niece cant go, she has her mother's family reunion to attend that same weekend.

If getting ready to travel wasnt bad enough, we are preparing for my brother's wedding this Aug., thankfully my bridesmaid dress fits. We have alot of crafting to do between now and then so that is starting this weekend. We are making the table center pieces, the flower girls hair pieces and maybe the boquets and boutinaires. It should be fun and interesting to see what we can come up with.

We have had a lost in our family so the happy times coming up will be a welcome joy.

Getting ready for yet another birthday. It is strange to say when asked how old I am that I will be 42 on Friday the 13th. It sounds like the next Jason movie. My little brother, does seem to like teasing me about my age; how soon he forgets he will be 41 this year, he isnt that far behind me.

This month hasnt been too kind to my mom, she lost her sister a couple of weeks ago. The month of May I am told is not a "good" month for her family. The death of a few family realtives were mixed in with the births of us May babies. I all ways wondered as a child, why my mom would have a private moment and cry on my birthday, she finally told me about the deaths in the family that happened in May, I can understand now why she cries and I hope that as time goes by it gets easier for her.

My parents went back home to Utah for my Aunts services, although my mom was extremely sad, she was so very happy to see how much the family has grown. My dad is still talking about meeting Mia, my cousins little girl. He just is in love with her little voice. He said she was a brave little thing, and stood there and said "My name is Mia" he said she said it so matter of factly. I am surprised that none of the little one didnt run away screaming and crying, my dad has that affect on kids...but maybe now that he is older and not so "mean" looking, and a grandparents, kids dont run and hide from him now.

My nephew is going to be 11 soon and in junior high. Where did the time go? Wasnt he just being born on that 4th of July night? I am still in Awe of how smart he is. He is growning like a weed and he is just so very handsome. He has a good head on his shoulders and I couldnt be anymore prouder of him. He makes me the happiest and the proudest when I see him help out his grandmother and hitting the books.

My niece will be 9 soon and she is just the greatest gift I could have ask for from my brother. She is such a wonderful girl. She wants so much to be older but yet she will still curl up on our laps and watch TV. She has a great eye for fashion now ... I tell her when I was 9 all I wanted was a football or softball. She thinks that is "old fashion" now. She doesnt like to share her birthday with her brother anymore, so she tells me, she would rather have her own special day. She inspires me and keeps me on my toes. I am so very proud of her and the progess she has made.

That's it for now....
